Since 1981 BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A. and the University of Zaragoza have had a close relationship. In 2004 this collaboration led to the signing of an agreement between them both, with the aim of promoting R+D+i projects and practical training for students, which in November 2006 resulted in the creation of the BSH Chair in Innovation.
All this joint work has not only yielded good mutual financial results, but has also generated very good academic results: Practising doctors, Theses, Degree or Master’s dissertations, internships in the company...
The encouragement and support of the relationship between both entities through their respective governing bodies have helped to create a feeling of trust between the members of the University of Zaragoza, its lecturers, its interns, its students and the employees of BSH Electrodomésticos España; as proof of this, on 25th January 2005, the Chancellor of the University of Zaragoza, bestowed the title of Honorary Doctor on Dr. Robert Kugler, who was, at the time, the Executive Vice President of the BSH group in the world and President of BSH Electrodomésticos España, making him the first foreign industrialist to receive such high recognition.
During these years of collaboration several patents have been requested to protect the research results of the projects carried out. Many of them have been published in prestigious international journals and presented at conferences, a fact that proves the quality of the work undertaken and its relevance within this field of research.
